canon 4.0/70-200mm L
the traveller's choice

Canon make two lenses in the 70-200mm range, one is the f/2.8 with Image Stabilization ("IS"), and the other is this one, f/4.0 without IS. For me, the choice was not just one of cost: this lens is a bit smaller and lighter to carry when travelling. The hood is made of plastic, unlike the f/2.8 version which comes with a metal hood.


 

I consider this a superb lens - it's really sharp. It remains sharp with the 1.4x extender (which turns it into a 98-280mm f/5.6 lens). Here are some
