canon slr gear

I've been using a Canon D60 digital SLR since late 2002. Digital technology moves quickly, and this model has already been superceded by several models (10D, 20D, 30D, along with an equally capable 3rd-tier line of 300D, 350D/Rebel XT). I'll no doubt upgrade eventually, but frankly the D60 is everything I need right now. It's important not to get too caught up in "featuritis", whereby you feel compelled to upgrade to every new model as it comes along. The new features are rarely important enough to warrant spending the cash, and certainly won't improve your photography!

Here are some of the EF lenses I use, along with some sample images taken with them:

Canon EF 1.4x Extender
Kenko EF Extension Tube Set

Canon EF 70-300 IS/DO
Asahi Pentax Tele-Takumar 400mm f/5.6
an M42 screwmount lens, which works with an adapter on the Canon EOS D60...

Older Digital

My previous forays into digital photography had been most recently with a Nikon Coolpix 950 which I used for a couple of years. It was a nice consumer digital having an especially good lens with excellent macro capability. Quite a few of the gallery pictures were shot with this camera, (everything dated '01 or '02, such as Cambodia '02). Prior to that, I had a Canon Powershot 350 (circa 1997), a first-generation digital consumer camera that was fun to use during Europe '97, but is not really that much of an image taker. Both of these cameras are now in the hands of relatives, but I visit them regularly. An undeniably nice feature of non-SLR digitals is the ability to occasionally frame shots at arm's length on the LCD; for example above your head at crowded events, or from the ground without having to wallow in mud.
