compact cameras
My wife and I tried out APS film technology for a
while, using a Minolta Vectis, but ended up finding a lot to hate about
it. First, there is of course the question of quality. APS film is roughly
equivelent to half-frame 35mm, so the likelihood of obtaining decent
enlargements is poor. Cost of development is universally higher than
for 35mm film, and rapid processing is not as readily available since
most labs do not have their own APS processing equipment.
Ditching that little experiment, we jumped to the opposite end of the
compact spectrum and purchased a Contax T2 for her
in early 2003. The T2's reputation is already well established. With
Its 38mm Carl Zeiss lens, it produces exquisitely contrasty images with
superb colour rendition. Lots of superlatives there, but they're well
warranted. More later.
