sverdlovsk-4 cds light meter

The Sverdlovsk-4 is a compact CDS-cell meter.

The meter works by illuminating a little LED light just at the point where exposure is correct as you turn the thumb-knob on the top right-hand corner.

At that point, the shutter speed gauge is lined up with appropriate apertures along the aperture gauge. It is thus a one-handed operation, and a functioning copy of this meter would certainly be very handy to use, given its compact size.

There is also a little flip-down light diffuser to take incident light readings.

Update: Just when I thought I'd read everything there is to read in the massively informative Alfred's Camera Pages, I stumbled across another important tidbit I'd missed from his in-depth Sverdlovsk 4 page: how to callibrate this meter! Thanks to Alfred, my '4 is now working perfectly. Following the callibration steps described there involves playing twister with your fingers as you try to hold down this, press that, and twist the other thing... but the end result is well worth it.
