Home of the famous Bayeux Tapestry. We stopped here on our way through Normandy specifically to see it.

29 August - Mont St Michel

Established in 966, the Abbey of Mont St Michel is a breathtaking sight, looming as it does high above the flat tidal plain of the surrounding bay.

The view from Gautier's leap, where a prisoner is said to have leaped to his death (Mont St Michel served as a prison after the French Revolution) The heavily fortified ramparts surrounding Mont St Michel are interspersed with watch towers. This one is known as Gabriel's Tower
