| First things first. After showering off the
train grime, we set out in search of food. Here is the view from our lunch table.

| The tomb of Christopher Columbus, inside the
Seville Cathedral. That's a person beneath the tomb, to give you an idea of just how big
it is. |
Seville, as seen from the top of the
Cathedral's belltower ("La Giralda"). The large white erection pointing to the
heavens on the horizon to the right is a bridge - Puente de la Barqueta - built for the
Expo in 1992. A great number of impressive buildings and monuments were constructed for
the Expo, and Spain is still trying to recover the cost of the ordeal. |

| Seville's Santa Cruz district, which also takes in the old
Jewish Quarter, is full of narrow and windy cobble-stoned streets, many of which are
blocked off to all but pedestrians. |

| Inside the bull ring. Bull fights are held on Sundays, by
which time we'll be in Cordoba (where the season is already over), so it looks as if we
may not get to see one. |
The Torre del Oro, on the riverfront, which dates back to
the 13th century. |
