Technical Info Getting Around We are travelling by train for the most part, using Eurail Passes. Travel and accommodation for those parts of the journey that are pre-booked were arranged by CIT World Holidays, Australia. The Website These web pages were created by Griffin Byteworks using Microsoft FrontPage 97, and are served up courtesy of OzEmail (Australia). The Camera The camera used to take the pictures is a Canon PowerShot 350. In order to optimise download times, most of the photographs have been reduced in size from their original 640x480 pixel dimensions, and in some cases sharpened, but otherwise appear much as they would straight out of the camera; they're OK, but nothing great. Communications A Toshiba T3600CT (Portege) notebook is used to process the images and post them on to the website using a Xircom 33.6 card modem. I use OzEmail's world roaming service to connect to OzEmail's webserver locally in all the countries covered by the trip, via the SITA network, with The Microsoft Network (MSN) as a backup service. The biggest technical problem we expect to encounter is the ability to find a suitable phone socket to plug the modem into at the various hotels we'll be staying in! |
